The Texas Supreme Court recently decided not to grant immunity to GTECH Corporation (n/k/a IGT) for fraud claims filed by over 1,000 Texas lottery players. GTECH did not ask the Court to reconsider its decision before the deadline to do so. That is not surprising since the Court seldom grants a request to reconsider one of its opinions.
The Court’s decision is now final and the case, Steele, et al. v. GTECH Corporation, will be sent back to the state trial court in Austin in the coming days for further proceedings.
Given the Covid-19 crisis, it is too early to predict how long it will take to get a trial setting. As soon as that happens we will post the news here.
